Week #4

Week four was definitely huge progress in comparison to last week. I felt much more productive in planning out my week and making time for everything. As for my goal I wanted to focus on something I was having the most trouble on, which were exams and my studying habits. I knew I needed a new way to study my notes, not by bunching them all together into one day. So I decided to start to review my notes of the week on Friday giving me enough time to process over the weekend and highlight main ideas that I am not understanding and review them when the exam time comes around. Most of my studying for the week was to be done in advance, and was mainly focused on the exam for the week which was statistics. Unfortunately I did not get the grade I expected but I most definitely did not stress as much and was able to see my errors after the exam and right away start to review. From this I started to form new study habits and communicated with professors to get clarification on lectures I did not understand. My overall attainment school was a four which means I made progress in decreasing the amount of stress for my week and not feeling overwhelmed with big task, such as exams in this case.

WEEK #3

This week seemed to once again just cause me more stress then needed to be. In the back of my mind I would constantly reminding myself of my goal for the week, which was to balance my workload. With that in mind I still continued with my bad habits that I would remind myself to stay away from. Whenever a large exam came throughout this week it was prioritized before any other assignments that were also a portion of my grade, and I would disregard smaller assignments. This being said it caused me to fall behind in other classes and bunch all of my due dates till after the exam. Due to the fact that I spend countless hours of studying throughout the week, I was depriving myself from a good night’s sleep. With the lack of sleep, I was also lessening my attention span, and made it difficult for myself to focus on lectures and ideas that were super important. Being forgetful also came along with the lack of sleep, I was forgetting essentials such as my books and a laptop that I need in order to complete assignments. With the help of a bestfriend I was able to stay on track and have that reminder to stay focused. Unfortunately my attainment score was back at a two, but as I reflect I have now found good tips such as keeping my books in my car and putting my laptop in my backpack every night.

WEEK #2

This week seemed to level out my stress, I did not increase it but on the other hand I did not decrease it, which is what I am striving for. Writing in my agenda I was able plan out my midterm and final dates so that I can mentally prepare myself for the workload that might be given to me around that time. As for writing in my agenda it still is something that I am getting used, I was actively using it in the beginning of the week but getting towards the end I started to slack and noticed myself going back to fill in dates because it felt mandatory. Unfortunately I was not using it as a reminder of specific due dates. Getting through the week seemed much easier and went by quickly due to the fact that I had a driving force. I was going to be able to see a close family friend that is coming down from CSUN, towards the end of the week. But i believe if I did not having that drastic driving force I may have just continued my bad habits. The restrain that I faced was that I was super focused on one class so I would write what I needed to be planned for that class, but left all the others for last minutes. With this being said I might want to start to attempt to find a balance between all my work load in the previous week by using my planner to set personal due dates for myself.

Week #1

This is the first week of beginning health behavior change, due to the fact that last week was such a challenge week full of emotions and physical strains I decided to begin the journey on finding new ways to reduce my stress. Unfortunately things didn’t go as planned, as week one progressed I continuously felt overwhelmed and pressured, there was no progress being made. I started noticing this when I kept denying I was not even stress, the first step to even begin this change was to at least accept my behavior. This first week I told myself I would write in my planner to get myself more organized. I would dedicate a maximum of 15 minutes a day. As the week continued, I did not seem to find the time to write in my planner, or even if I had the time I would avoid it at all means necessary. This brought even more overwhelming stress because I was forgetting due dates and had last minute assignments that I was giving my full potential at. With this being said, I was at a level four of my goal attainment and was causing myself more stress than reducing it.
